They will also headline with Iron Maiden again at the Greenfield Festival in 2014. Shinoda recently hinted in a status update on his blog that the sixth album will be released in during 2014. On March 6, 2014, the band released their new single, 'Guilty All the Same', which features American rapper Rakim, from the upcoming studio album through Shazam. The band's sixth studio album was later revealed to be titled as The Hunting Party, and it is set to be released on June 14, 2014. Speaking about the band's sixth album to Noisey, Mike Shinoda said: 'What's worked for us in the past is stick to our guns as far as what our creative vision is, spend a lot of time on it, and really craft it.
On this record we spent six months in the studio, probably six more out of the studio in addition, just coming up with demos and throwing them away.' He added: 'In contrast to that, there was a pop artist who I won't name who was in the studio while we were doing our record—they showed up for three days.
Day one they showed up for thirty minutes, day two they showed up for fifteen, and day three they neglected to show up at all. The song was done.' Here's the latest single, Rebellion. I really enjoy mark the graves for some reason. Its structure is odd and on the first listen, it was hard to identify the verse or the chorus, but it stuck out for me in the end. Keys to the kingdom is, of course, unanimously awesome. War is great.
Sounds like classic punk rock, almost like the sex pistols. All for nothing is pretty good. Probably one of my least favourites of the album but still decent. Nice use of guest star though.
A line in the sand reminds me of my favourite band, avenged sevenfold and i don’t know why. I love it, good stuff superb album.
Properly feels like a return to form with a hint of maturity and growth that the band has proven to display •. Keys to the Kingdom and Mark the Graves are easily the strongest songs on the album. In general you could say it’s a dive into punk rock territory for them, which works really well on some songs but not others. They succeeded with this in MTG, where you can hear a definite Foo Fighters and 90s punk influence, which hit home with Chester’s harmonizing in the chorus.
Where it didn’t work for me was War. ALITS also didn’t need such a punk style chorus, which felt disjointed from the rest of the song (which was better). But definitely some highlights through the album. I really, really dug KTTK from the first listen though. It’ll go down as one of the greats.
About Linkin Park The sum of a career dedicated to brain-melting innovation and expert craftsmanship, The Hunting Party finds Linkin Park reaching into their childhoods in order to realize their future. After setting the template for rock that incorporated hip-hop influences with Hybrid Theory and Meteora, LP shifted gears completely with the polychromatic Minutes to Midnight, only to subvert expectations again by releasing the largely electronic, apocalyptic A Thousand Suns and 2012’s Living Things, which melded songwriting structures of folk with the harder edges of electronica and rock and roll. The direction the band was trending towards suggested that The Hunting Party would follow in this electronic-tinged vein. But then again, Linkin Park has always loved a good surprise. Bebop Digital.
