Dec 06, 2015 The Microsoft Windows 2008 Standard download page has a 32 bit ISO file and a 64 bit EXE. I have downloaded both but am not sure on an empty machine without an operating system yet how do I install the 64 bit EXE version. Sep 16, 2009 - Windows Server 2008 R2 was released just a couple of days ago on September 14th -- so now it's time for you to start thinking about installing. Feb 8, 2013 - Windows Server 2008 R2 is currently available in seven editions: Windows Server 2008 R2 Web; Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.
This book is very well written and highly readable. A great way to learn about Windows 2008 R2. Mark Minasi and his co-authors have a great writing style making it much more readable than the Microsoft books. This is the last book in a series of books that has run since the days of Windows NT 3.51. Windows has grown over that time and it is a struggle to get compressive coverage into a single book so it ends up being a bit light on many topics.

Advanced Systems Engineers will need more specialist books but I highly recommend this to Intermediate level administrators or Desktop support people wanting to move to Level 3 server support. I ordered this in June. It's only been in my office for about three days and I've only breezed through it -- but it's been popular with our engineers. They've said that it's got some awesome information about SharePoint integration and new and improved ways of handling RDS as a VAR or service provider. If, however, you're just a regular IT person, it's also a great book. I cannot say that I've read, cover to cover, but I can tell you that the two that have gave it rave reviews and love the companion CD.
Cheers to the authors. Unlike previous releases of Windows Server, such as 2000 and 2003, Server 2008r2 provides easy access to many features and server roles. Even though I'm MCSE certified, one wouldn't need to be in order to deploy a robust server solution. While I don't mind the command line, I don't feel the addition of an intuitive GUI detracts from the server environment.
Surf40 would do well to put the linux 'kool-aid' back in the cooler and relax a bit. Server 2008r8 delivers on its promises and (at least so far) is rock solid. (Now let's see what Server 2012 is up to.) Good job Microsoft. I used this SSD as a replacement hard drive in a mid-2012 Macbook Pro into which I'd already installed 16GB of RAM, and the improvement is nothing short of dramatic.
I was having boot-up issues, with the computer freezing at the log-in screen for several minutes, and app icons seemed to bounce endlessly before the app would open. Now, from pressing the power button to the desktop takes 30 seconds, and apps open in a mere two bounces of the icon. This kit will provide all of the tools you need for the project: • TEKTON 2830 Precision Bit and Driver Kit for Electronic and Precision Devices, 27-Piece (And these two videos will provide every bit of info needed for the process: • How to install an SSD with Yosemite / El Capitan on Macbook Pro (• MacBook Pro SSD Upgrade (Mid- 2012) (For the record, I transferred files from the old HD. These days I spend very little time with server systems, but lots of time meeting and mentoring with those people who do. I liked the text, and would reccomend it to any team of IT Pros, who are looking to invest in themselves and upskill.
I enjoyed the physical layout of the book, 'highlighting' in the text, and notes in the margins - an easy way to absorb additional information without losing context. Most chapters are about ~30 pages, so it was possible to cover the whole book in a week, reading a few chapters on the train to and from work. The content within the book, was also well done. Clearly Orin has spent a lot of time with a lot of people, and the book is written in a (almost an uncanny) way, of pre-empting your next question. In summary, a good solid text for already savvy administrators.
